 Welfare and Al Nayzak Sign an MOU to Launch Bridge Program to Support Palestinian Students’ Opportunities in Higher Education Institutes

 

Ramallah: Al Nayzak Organization and Welfare Association Signed yesterday an MOU for launching and running Bridge program. The program aims to develop the capabilities of promising Palestinian high school students in order to increase their chances of acceptance in world renowned universities. On behalf of the organizations Dr. TafidaJarbawi, General Director of Welfare association, and Eng. ArefHusseini, Founder and Board Chairman of Al Nayzak Organization, signed the MOU.


Once the program is launched it will incubate over 400 high school students (tenth to twelfth grade) for three years. The students, throughout, will receive academic and professional counselling, and personal follow up towards shaping their innovative and unique skills. This is aimed to score them enrolment in high ranking universities all over the world.


The program works on improving the participating students’ skills in languages, math, and science. In addition, it invests in their diverse talents to reach advanced levels and become more competitive and able to leave a visible print on the map of innovation and scientific production.


At the signing, Dr. Jarbawi affirmed the importance of the program in preparing the students to take up their leadership role in development. She also affirmed the program’s importance in highlighting Welfare’s contribution to improving quality education in Palestine. She explained that the program will form the foundation and the model for similar efforts in the upbringing of promising Palestinian youth. Dr. Jarbawi, further, praised Al Nayzak’s contributions to the development of the educational sector in the country especially in the fields of technology and scientific research in Palestine.


Dr.Jarbawi pointed that the Welfare Association places great attention to the educational sector, mentioning that, since its establishment, Welfare Association has spent over 200 million dollars on the educational sector out of its overall support to the Palestinian community.


Eng. Husseini affirmed that this program comes as a part of the strategic partnership between Al Nayzak Organization and Welfare Association in supporting and improving the services provided to the Palestinian students and the educational system as a whole. He continued that this program’s target is to develop the participating students’ innovative and specialized skills and give them access to advanced higher education opportunities. He noted, further, that the aim, ultimately, is to supply the Palestinian market with high quality workforce.
The program and application process is scheduled to launch soon this summer of 2015.


The Welfare Association (WA) is an independent non-profit organization established in 1983 by a group of Palestinian business and intellectual figures to provide development and humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in the West Bank including Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, 1948 Areas, and the Palestinian communities in Lebanon. In over 30 years, The Welfare Association invested $600m in the areas of education, culture, community development, and emergency and humanitarian assistance. Annually, WA touches the lives of over one million Palestinians.
